Alex DeSouza is a self-taught artist who uses fine art
scanography, or scanner photography, to take a deeper
look at a variety of specimens from nature. From
butterflies and plants, to feathers and flowers,
he captures the patterns and landscapes that exist in
the almost microscopic world that lives in a scanned
Alex, who grew up in New England, began
experimenting with photography as a teenager. His work has shown in Southern California in Temecula and at the Julian Branch Library. He lives in Julian, a historical mining town in the mountains of San Diego County, surrounded by nature.
